Typical: You come one week to Playa del Carmen and after three days of nonstop partying and walking through 5th avenue about 11 times you find that there isn’t much left to do. That is of course if you’re not into adventures like going to cenotes or the beaches close by like Xpu-ha. What other options can you find in our paradise?
Playa is not known for its cultural offering, but it’s getting better day by day, having more options in this category. If you go a little further off the main avenue, you’ll surely find fun things to do. Like what? Here go a few options:
Bike riding: Whether you buy one or rent one, take advantage of the trip and exercise while you see how much Playa has grown at the same time. There is a bike lane on 10th avenue that takes you from Playacar up to almost the end of the Colosio neighborhood. Even if you go down 46th street or CTM you can incorporate yourself to 5th avenue and enjoy the decorated extension of graffiti artwork. Your legs and lungs will thank you and you’ll surely have fun. It’s a good plan to take several photos. You can take different trips like these three.
If you’re feeling sporty, you can also continue your trip through the bike lane on the Federal Road to Tulum, you can arrive safely to Xcaret. Be careful and don’t put yourself at risk on the highway, use this safe lane and wear a helmet. (Believe me, I know what it’s like to fall and not have one on).
Theatre, art, dance, and lots of fun: in the already famous Colosio neighborhood, you can find El Centro Cultural Caracol Marino, one of the few options that offer theatre, dance, workshops, and lots of art in general for the whole family. This center supports local and foreign artists, positioning itself a little more each time in the liking of the playenses. It’s located on 80th street, between 10th ave. and 15th ave.
Eco parks: You’ve surely gone to one, or haven’t you? There’s a tourist that come to Playa exclusively to get to know them, and some of us that live here, forget sometimes that we have them so close and at a local price. Xcaret and Xel-ha are the most known worldwide, but we have several very close by! On another delivery, we’ll tell you about them in detail.
Cinema: If you’re one who loves the 7th art form but you’re a little lazy to get out of downtown Playa, we have excellent news for you… Cineclub starts this week at Blue Parrot with its “Nights of Oceanfront Cinema”, we long for it with anxiety! Don’t miss the opening show. In Viva Playa, we will be sharing the billboard continuously.
Is that it? Did we run out of ideas? Of course not, but we will give you more options in future delivery. In the meantime try these and let us know what you thought in a comment.
